Building & Earth Announces Acquisition

Building Alabama

Building & Earth has announced the acquisition of Montgomery, Alabama, engineering firm Christian Testing Laboratories (CTL). CTL has been in business since 1951 and has a second location in Mobile, Alabama. The acquisition of CTL gives Building & Earth a total of 185 employees in 12 locations throughout the Southeast and Midwest. With the addition of CTL’s Montgomery and Mobile offices, Building & Earth now has five locations in Alabama, more than any other firm like it in the state.

“CTL is well-known in the market place and adds strength and value to our firm’s capabilities with the addition of drilling and coring services, as well as environmental consulting, “ said George Ballock, P.E., Regional Vice President of Building & Earth. Building & Earth’s newly acquired drilling fleet includes a CME 550x ATV – a drill rig used for off road and raw land drilling, a CME 75 truck-mounted drill rig used for large diameter and deep borings, and a Geoprobe 7822 Direct Push sampling rig for geotechnical and environmental drilling.

Dave McKee, P.E., who has been employed with CTL for 16 years, will serve as branch manager for Building & Earth’s Montgomery and South Alabama locations.

Steve McPheeters of Maynard, Cooper and Gale represented Building & Earth during the acquisition of CTL.
