Capstone Building Corp. Breaks Ground on Multi-Family Housing Development
Capstone Building Corp. recently broke ground on an urban revitalization project in the Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. The $33 million multi-family housing development will encompass five stories with 224 unites in 232,218 square feet of residential space above a 103,044-square foot concrete, structured parking deck. Construction is scheduled to be completed in January 2018.
This multi-family housing project is the initial phase of a transit-oriented plan to redevelop underutilized parking at the Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA station into a mixed-use property with residential, retail, restaurant and office space. MARTA is leasing the land and allowing developers to join them with a goal of revamping and promoting the use of its transportation system.
“The revitalization of urban areas is occurring across the country, and the Metro-Atlanta area is no exception,” stated Jay Chapman, CEO of Capstone Building Corp. “People have a desire to move closer to the city to be more mobile and reduce transportation costs. This new multi-family development at the Edgewood MARTA station is the ideal location for a millennial or young professional looking to be part of this urban shift. Capstone Building Corp. is proud to be serving as general contractor on this unique redevelopment project.”
The Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA station is located at 1450 La France Street and is within walking distance of the Edgewood retail district and numerous neighborhoods. The station was opened in 1979 and serves both the Blue Line and Green Line.
