Griffin Electric Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. has again participated in the U.S. Department of Labor’s National Apprenticeship Week. Having taken place for its second year, National Apprenticeship Week serves to highlight the important role that apprentices play in offering employers the opportunity to develop a highly-skilled workforce and help grow their business, while providing career-seekers the chance to earn an income in conjunction with learning the necessary skills to succeed.
Griffin Electric held events in each of its five offices, in order to spotlight and honor its in-house Apprenticeship Training Program and the apprentices enrolled in the program, while educating prospective students on the real-world benefits of apprenticeship. During the week of November 14 – 20, 2016, an open house was offered to potential students, who were invited to tour the company’s training facilities, learn about its in-house program, and network with current apprentices, instructors and additional Griffin team members.
In celebration of current apprentices and their professional accomplishments, giveaways, raffles, and a special luncheon was provided to these individuals during the National Apprenticeship Week open house. Additionally, each project foreman treated their crew to a jobsite luncheon, in order to recognize both apprentices and the licensed electricians who help educate them throughout the construction process.
In existence for over 20 years, Griffin Electric’s Apprenticeship Training Program has prepared hundreds of students for their electrical journeyperson licensing exam. The program is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and designated as an approved training site by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
