Hoar Construction Named Contractor for New Gables Residential Project

Building Alabama

Hoar Construction’s DC Division has been named general contractor for the $85 million Gables Residential multifamily project in Arlington, Virginia.

The project marks two firsts: the first project Hoar will build with new client Gables Residential; and the DC team’s first win of 2017. This is the DC Division’s fourth start in the region within the past year.

“Arlington is a great place to live, and there’s a high demand for more residential housing there,” said Mike Sloan, division vice president. “We’re excited to be taking on this new project with such a prominent developer as Gables Residential and continuing our own growth in the metropolitan Washington area.”

The Gables Residential project will be prominently located on Rolfe Street and Route 50. The project includes two buildings:
• A 12-story, high-rise concrete tower with 282 units, and
• A six-story, wood-frame building with 86 units over a four-story, below-grade parking garage with 390 spaces, a courtyard, and plaza.

The team has been working with Gables Residential and architect KTGY for several months, partnering on ways to save money while still bringing the overall design and concept to life for the project. Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion scheduled in early 2019.
