Kavanaugh & ABC of Alabama

On September 10, construction leaders from across the state met with Senator Doug Jones in Birmingham. This was ABC of Alabama’s third visit with Jones regarding the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court appointment. Deepa Bhate of Building & Earth made opening remarks and turned the meeting over to Senator Jones. After remarks from Jones, various construction leaders talked about the importance of Jones supporting President Trump’s appointee.

“Very friendly and pleasant meeting with Senator Jones,” said ABC Federal Legislative Chairman Jim Cooper. “Finally understand the Democrat’s agenda for this critical seat on the court. President Reagan nominated Judge Robert Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court – the Democrats sank him, and he was replaced by Anthony Kennedy.  They would like to repeat history with Donald Trump to neutralize the seat.”

Also commenting was ABC State Legislative Chairman Tim Hightower. “We greatly appreciated the Senator meeting with our group and understand the pressure he is under on this crucial vote,” Hightower said. “Senator Jones was very candid in his remarks in that he has not made up his mind on Judge Kavanaugh and we were equally candid in stating our full support of Judge Kavanaugh. We reminded the Senator of his remarks in January that he would follow in the footsteps of his mentor Howell Heflin and give great deference to the President’s Supreme Courts nominees. We hope that he will follow through on this wise statement.”

Senator Jones is certainly under a national spotlight politically regarding this appointment.

“ABC of Alabama is certainly happy to be engaged and involved, and we thank Senator Jones for meeting with us concerning this appointment,” said ABC of Alabama President Jay Reed.
