Burr & Forman Welcomes Back Orlando Partner Jim Pratt
Burr & Forman welcomes back former Orlando partner, Jim Pratt, who recently returned from a three-year sabbatical, during which he served as the mission president of the Canada Halifax Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Atlantic Canada. Prior to his leave, Pratt was the firm’s Orlando office managing partner.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jim back to our team and to the Orlando business community,” said Orlando office managing partner Eric Golden. “Jim’s passion for service embodies the type of person he is, and we are all looking forward to Jim picking up right where he left off, providing outstanding legal services to his clients.”
During his service, Pratt and his wife traveled extensively, meeting with missionaries throughout Eastern Canada to ensure their housing, medical care, training and language needs were met. In his role, Pratt was also responsible for the congregations of the church in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Pratt returns to his full-time practice at the firm as a member of the Real Estate Practice Group, focusing on commercial finance and banking, condominium law, environmental and land use law, and mortgage and real estate law.
Pratt is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a former member of the Winter Park Hospital Institutional Review Board, and has served as Chairman of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association, Orlando Chapter. Pratt is also a former Bishop of the Maitland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He previously served as president of the Orlando Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, acting as ecclesiastical leader of over 4,000 church members.
