Building Alabama

Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. is currently providing energy improvement upgrades for the Valley Creek Water Reclamation Facility (Valley Creek WRF) in Bessemer, AL. Spanning over 229,000-sf and expected to reach completion this winter, the facility has remained in operation throughout construction.

Griffin Electric’s current work at Valley Creek WRF marks the company’s seventh project at the plant over the past 20 years. The facility has a daily production capacity of 300 million gallons and serves the residents of Jefferson County, which includes 35 cities and towns.

The Alabama Griffin team, led by Calvin Mize, Region Manager, is tasked with wiring low voltage motor control equipment, including reduced voltage motor starters and variable frequency drives, as well as power and lighting panel boards, dry-type transformers, and other low-voltage electrical power distribution equipment. Griffin Electric is also responsible for installing above ground and underground raceways systems, low voltage wire and cable, and new lighting systems on-site.

In addition to the Griffin Electric team, Adams Robinson Enterprises, Inc. of Dayton, OH is the general contractor of the project, while Hazen & Sawyer, P.C. of Birmingham is serving as both architect and electrical engineer.
